Local fans of Canadian comedian Jonny Harris can finally see the results of his week-long visit to the region last December with the airing this November of the episode of Still Standing focused on the Town of Huntingdon. The episode will air on Tuesday, November 13, at 8 pm, on CBC, the CBC TV app and online. The crew for the award-winning CBC original series Still Standing wrapped up their filming for the Huntingdon episode on December 6 last year with a live comedy show featuring Jonny Harris and three other comedians. Jonny dedicated his routine to toasting the folks he met and spent time with in Huntingdon. This routine will be combined with footage that was filmed around town to complete the episode. The footage has been offered to Grove Hall to screen as a preview of the episode to be viewed one hour before the national launch of the episode. The doors to Grove Hall will open at 6 pm, with the preview starting at 7 pm. Reservations are not necessary - the screening is open to all by donation with half the proceeds going to help the Promutual Regional Sports Centre repair their compressors. The other half of the proceeds will be used to help improve the heating/cooling situation at Grove Hall. The premise for the Still Standing series follows Jonny Harris on a “hilarious and heart-warming journey to find humour in the unlikeliest of places - small towns on the ropes.” The Huntingdon episode will delve into the history of the town while also looking into its recovery as it is now over a decade since the textile industry abruptly closed down.
