More than $60 million will be invested in the Huntingdon Constituency road network over the next two years.

For Stéphane Billette, MNA for Huntingdon and Chief Government Whip, this work will mean the population can count on a better, safer and more efficient transport network.

"I am pleased with the investment of over $60 million for the roads in the Huntingdon Riding, the main interested party. We're talking about 26 work projects to be carried out in 2016-2017. This is in addition to the hundreds of millions of dollars already invested since 2008."

The amount retained for a number of projects in the region will be used for various paving jobs, rebuilding route 132 between the Chemin Bord-de-l’Eau and the montée du Lac in Sainte-Barbe, installing traffic lights at the intersections of routes 219-221 and rue St-Nicolas in Napierville.

"I have met with the mayors of various municipalities to talk about their needs," stated Billette. "An announcement like this is the result of team work. We have shown that there is a good partnership among elected officials. In addition, Jacques Daoust, Minister of Transports, de la Mobilité durable et de l’Électrification des transports, is well aware of our reality because he lives in the Huntingdon Riding."

In 2016-2017, the Quebec Government will invest altogether more than 4.7 billion dollars in Quebec roads, $532.1 million of which will be in the Montérégie. "More than 11 % of the total amount for the Montérégie will be injected into our constituency to improve our road network. All of these investments will have a direct and positive impact on families in our area."
