The Municipality of Godmanchester is in mourning following the tragic death of local municipal councillor, David Lamb, on Sunday, September 20.

From all accounts, David Lamb was working on the land, when, for an unknown reason, an accident occurred causing immediate death. This was a man who had taken care to convert his business in order to provide organic meat to supermarkets all over Quebec and Canada.

The 55 year old man, who won a seat as councillor during the last municipal elections, is described by a citizen of Godmanchester on his Facebook page as being an honest farmer who worked in harmony with the environment.

On the “J’aime Godmanchester” Facebook page a number of people have expressed their condolences to the family. “My sympathy goes out to the family at this difficult time. He was someone I very much admired,” wrote Marie-Claude De Martin.

Le Journal Saint-François was unable to reach the Mayor of Godmanchester, however, the Godmanchester flag at the Town Hall is flying at half-mast.

Christine Coulombe, communications officer for the Sûreté du Québec did not confirm the identity of the victim. “Identification is necessary, but it will take a certain amount of time before the victim is identified,” said Ms Coulombe.
