On Wednesday, August 30, the incoming Class of 2022 took part in an orientation day at Chateauguay Valley Regional High School.

The new crop of grade seven students had the run of the school for the day, which was filled with a number of activities and opportunities to meet with their new teachers and staff members. The building was filled the following day as the 2017-2018 school year officially began for students across the Valley.

The emotions running through the minds of today’s students are likely to be the same as those experienced fifty years ago as the new regional high school opened to a flood of students. Along with these newest members of the CVR family, all former students, teachers, commissioners, and staff are all invited to attend an event-filled 50th anniversary weekend on October 6, 7 and 8.

“This is a chance for everyone to get together,” says CVR Principal Brigitte Barrette, “to share and exchange memories and their respective journeys.” As such, the long weekend will feature a number of activities planned for families during the day on Saturday, as well as more formal events such as a wine and cheese and alumni concert on Friday, a Saturday gala and Sunday brunch.

There are still a few remaining tickets for the gala and brunch, however the deadline to ensure a place at the table is Thursday, September 7. Tickets can be reserved by calling 450-829-2381, or online through Eventbrite.ca. More detailed information, including links for tickets, can be found online at www.cvr50.ca.
