CVHC members leave their horses at home to attend an evening of recognition.

On the evening of Friday, November 20th, approximately 65 members of the Chateauguay Valley Horse Club (CVHC) gathered at the Casa Grecque in Valleyfield. The reason? To celebrate and honour everyone who worked to make the 2015 show season a success—from riders to volunteers to everyone in between. The banquet is held on an annual basis, well after the season concludes in August.

The association, which puts on three shows during the spring/summer seasons, is a family-friendly one. Known for its openness to riders and horses of all levels, the show is a popular one with the locals. The judges are known to offer helpful feedback to the participants, which is invaluable for those looking to improve upon their horsemanship in a relaxed environment.

This year’s overall winners (by category) include: Adult Champion, Tiffany McNaughton; Reserve Adult Champion, Nancy Carr; Open champion, Tiffany McNaughton; Reserve Open Champion, Nancy Carr; Youth Champion, Kayla Arnold; Reserve Youth Champion, Mackenzie Kunz; Novice Champion, Alyssa Hawn; Reserve Novice Champion, Chrystal Beare; Walk/Trot Champion, Myrissa Arnold; Reserve Walk/Trot Champion, Adrian Gilenault; O/F Champion, Mackenzie Kunz; Reserve O/F Champion, Chloe Jade Demers; Pony Champion, Marianne Gagnon; Reserve Pony Champion, Sabrina Savigny; Pony H/J Champion, Sylvanna Carr; Pony H/J Reserve Champion, Sabrina Savigny. Winners received honourary club jackets to mark their achievements.

CVHC president Rose Huxted-Morrison had this to say about the event “It was a great turnout, with lots of laughter and wonderful awards passed out. I just want to say thank you to all sponsors and volunteers who make this club happen.”
