Jeff Van Den Heuvel, who has four charges against him including possession of 847 cannabis plants, will have his sentencing hearing on Monday, October 29. Police arrested Jeff Van Den Heuvel during a police operation which took place last July 6 in Godmanchester. At the time, the 36 year old man was in possession of 847 cannabis plants, 1700 grams of dried cannabis and nine firearms. Jeff Van Del Heuvel was then charged with growing cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to traffic, improper storage of a firearm and breach of contract due to previous cases which had officially prohibited him from having firearms in his possession. On Monday, May 7 at the Valleyfield Courthouse, the lawyers involved in the case, Me Guy Lalonde for the defence and Me Lili Prévost-Gravel, for the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecution, counselled Judge Bertrand St-Arnaud that there could be a joint submission. "I can advise the court right now that a minimum sentence applies but that the submission will be more than the mandatory minimum sentence," Me Prévost-Gravel emphasized to the Judge. "I would like to make it clear that there were children present." Jeff Van Den Heuvel is well known to police and judiciary given his eight previous criminal offenses.
