For a third consecutive year, a total of 34 young athletes from Chateauguay Valley Regional High School took part in this year’s epic run from Quebec City to Montreal as part of the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie on May 13 and 14.

The students were accompanied by a team of coaches made up pf members of the CVR Physical Education Department and volunteers, including Pierre Thériault, Terri Marino, Nicolas Bergeron, Eric Ednie, Chantal Bergevin and Madeleine Landry, who trained with the students from September.

Over 5,300 students from 135 high schools, colleges and universities came together for the 270 kilometre run, which tests young people’s commitment and physical health as they take turns running throughout the night for a total of around 30 hours per student.

Local students and a team of coaches from Arthur-Pigeon High School in Huntingdon and Baie-Saint-François in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield also participated in the run.
