Women’s Auxiliary: 2017 results a testament to Valley generosity

The results of the 2017 fundraising and membership campaign for the Women’s Auxiliary of the Barrie Memorial Hospital have demonstrated that once again the Valley recognizes not only the important work of this exceptional organization but the value of our local hospital as well. A total of $73,077 was raised during the annual campaign, with $65,676 from donations and a further $7,401 coming from 2,467 memberships. The total figure was down just slightly from the 2016 results of $73,467, but was well above the 2015 campaign, which brought in $67,118. For the Co-Chairs of the Membership Committee, Eleanor Finlayson, Ilse Laliberté and Kelly McNamara, this year’s results reflect the generosity of so many in the Valley as well as those who volunteer their time to canvass for the cause. According to the Co-Chairs, “it is the co-operative effort of our captains and canvassers that ensures the success of the mem-bership drive each year.” In a written letter, the Co-Chairs go on to thank their network of volunteers. “Without your help, we could never accomplish so much. Evidence of your hard work can be seen throughout the “Barrie”, both in the extra equipment and patient services which could not be provided within the normal hospital budget.” The results by area As in year’s past, the amount raised through donations far exceeds that brought in through memberships.
