Emily Southwood - The Little Green Library is warming up January with two cultural events, both happening on Saturday, January 20th. The first, a vernissage to launch the new art exhibition of paintings by Huntingdon artist, Noella Quesnel, will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Later that evening, the second edition of The Smallest Animation Film Festival in the World will screen at 7:30p.m. The festival is free, but reservations are recommended for the limited seating which filled up quickly at last year’s popular first edition. Library coordinator, Louise Charlebois, is very pleased to announce these two exciting cultural activities to kick off a new year of programming. Artist Ms. Quesnel has been a resident of Huntingdon for the past 50 years and is well known for her skill as a dressmaker. From1967 until 2009 she worked as a sewing and substitute teacher at the Arthur Pigeon high school. She began her art training with Marc Lacroix and has been taking courses with Lyne Desrochers for the past five years. The public is invited to view her new paintings and enjoy afternoon refreshments. The Smallest Animation Film Festival in the World—curated for the second time by Alain Boisvert—will present films from animators around the world, including 2D, 3D and stop motion. He explains, “It’s a unique opportunity to discover film animation at its best and the only festival of its kind in the region.” This year, one film will win a trophy for the audience award of the night. All types of animated films will be included in genres from comedy to drama, with each film lasting between one and eight minutes. The films are intended for a public of 12 years and over. Popcorn will be served.
